Brsk becomes patron for Stockport Community group ACE
We're proud to have become a patron for Active Community Experiences (ACE) in Stockport, who provide health and wellbeing services to residents in the local community.
ACE was founded as a not-for-profit in 2019, to commemorate members of the community who had died as a result of taking their own lives due to poor mental health. Founders Tony Farrar and Steve Cunningham had lost friends and relatives and recognised the negative impact of social, economic and physical inequalities on physical health and state of mind. They saw first-hand how traditional interventions often resulted in some residents 'slipping through the net'.
With this is mind, they decided to take action and create a sustainable solution, based around sport and activity, that would positively impact and change the community from the inside out.
We've decided to support this amazing cause, so that residents across the community can benefit from not only world class digital services from our network, but continue to access better physical services at reduced costs too.
Tony Farrar, ACE CEO said, "This vital support enables us to continue to deliver upon our commitments, to provide affordable activity, and improved health and wellbeing to some of the most deprived areas across the borough of Stockport. Brsk have developed a world class infrastructure across key areas of the UK, garnered varied investment, and are the only provider in this space who are working on providing specific packages for people in financial hardship and suffer from digital exclusion. ACE look forward to helping them with the rollout of their next generation fibre networks and ensuring that every child and family are able to access high quality/flexible broadband packages."
We're really excited to build our full fibre network across Stockport, our first residents went live recently. While we want to leave a lasting legacy in our network, it's great to be able to contribute something more that will have extra benefits for the residents in the area, and supports a local community initiative.
Stockport Community Manager at Brsk, Andy Hall said, “To be able to work with such a fantastic group so embedded in the community as ACE is something we at BRSK put at the heart of what we are endeavouring to do within the local communities of Stockport and Manchester. Assisting people and providing a platform for them to access opportunity is at the core of what ACE stand for and perfectly reflects our philosophy at BRSK, we are proud to be Patrons.”
